1102 Grand, Kansas City, Missouri: The Most Network-rich Interconnected Facility in the Central Midwest

Netrality owns the Bryant Building at 1102 Grand in Kansas City, Missouri. 1102 Grand is the Central Midwest’s most network-rich, core interconnected facility. The data center provides infrastructure for carriers, enterprises, and service providers. Our robust ecosystem has a total of +140 unique providers, including 60 peering networks and 5 peering exchanges.

1102 Grand is the Home of Interconnection.

> Connectivity. There are two diverse entry points, a carrier-neutral Meet-Me-Room, and a core interconnection site. Our facility has immediate access to the Axon ring, the fiber optic loop connecting the Johnson County area of the Kansas City Metro with downtown Kansas City. It is the only data center in Kansas City with a Google Cloud direct connect that provides direct physical connections between on-prem deployments and Google’s networks.

> Infrastructure. The structure has ceiling heights of 10 feet (slab to slab), column spacing of 13 feet and 9 inches-15 feet, floor loading of 150 lbs./square feet, and freight elevators with a capacity of 2,500 lbs. The building is located away from the coasts, associated hurricane threats, and outside high-risk earthquake zones.

> Electrical. The electrical system includes 13,200 voltage feeders and four generators supplying primary and redundant backup power at N+1 configuration — supporting three utility feeds. Each generator has up to 2 megawatts of power and a dedicated 2,800-gallon diesel storage tank. Generators are able to run for 24 hours at full capacity without the need for refueling. We have local and national fuel contracts in place to ensure backup power.

> Compliance and Security. Our facility has SSAE 16 SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 reporting, is HIPPA and PCI compliant, and provides our tenants and customers with 24/7/365 key card access.

>Amenities. We have office space available to lease, a tech lounge, and secure storage space.

In 2021, we acquired KC2-7801 Nieman Rd in Shawnee, Kansas, and are building two additional data halls on the property. The 10-mile distance between 1102 Grand and KC2-7801 Nieman Road allows for one millisecond round trip latency for active-active replication between the two data centers, offering KC2-7801 Nieman Road customers access to 1102 Grand’s rich connectivity ecosystem, including direct on-ramps to Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Direct Connect.

1102 Grand, in conjunction with KC2-7801 Nieman, is the powerhouse of interconnection in the Central Midwest. Our provider ecosystem in these facilities comprises cloud providers, cloud delivery networks, cloud service providers, and managed service providers. Within our ecosystem, we have Akamai, GTT, Hurricane Electric, KCIX, Kansas Fiber Network, Verizon, Dish Wireless, Missouri Telecom, and Windstream, including direct on-ramps to Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services (AWS) direct connect. Our partners provide our tenants and customers with ultra-low latency, reliability, scalability, security, and compliance, allowing businesses in our data center to remain competitive in today’s digitalized landscape.
